Below are five easy ways to tell a genuine Louis Vuitton Neverfull from a fake. We have here a real Neverfull MM Azur Damier and a fake Neverfull GM Azur Damier. Yes, we bought a fake Neverfull GM to write this blog and make this comparison. Having a real and a fake bag is one of the most effective ways to tell a real Neverfull from a fake one. If you put both handbags side by side, it is easy to distinguish the fake Neverfull and the real Neverfull in terms of their workmanship, which is much worse in a fake bag than in a real Neverfull.
I have to say that the fake Neverfull GM mimics the look and feel of the leather pretty well. So much so that there are minimal differences when you compare the look and feel of the leather, so it’s hard to tell the differences between the real and fake leather.
Let us focus instead on 5 other details that will give you significant differences between a real Neverfull MM vs a fake Neverfull GM.
- Stitching
- Heat stamp
- Hardware (rivets, locks, zipper, studs etc.)
- Engraving on hardware
- Embossing on letter
STITCHING, HEAT STAMP and CRAFTMANSHIP
Pictures are worth a million words, from the high resolution of the photo below and focusing on the above 5 key area, it is easy for anyone to pick up the differences between the real and fake Neverfull.
Now take a closer look at the fake Neverfull GM in the photo below, the poor heat embossing on the edge of the handle and sloppy stitching. If you pay attention to the bottom, the poor craftmanship with overlapping hot stamping at the end is clearly visible.
Now compare that to the real Neverfull MM, well defined hot stamping all around and at the end, perfect and even stitching all around and double stitching at the very end. Stitching is easiest giveaway in telling whether the Louis Vuitton is fake as they are very meticulous about stitching.
Once again, if you focus on the seam and the hot stamp, the spacing between the seam and the hot stamp is even, but you will see that the fake has an overlap of the seam and the hot stamp.
Another thing you should pay attention to is the colour of the stitching. A real LV has mustard yellow stitching, while a fake bag has bright yellow stitching.
The following is another example of what we mean by an even spacing between stitching and hot stamping.
Loose stitching, as seen in the photo below, is an indication that the bag may be counterfeit. Overlapping seams and hot stamping are another clear indication.
The closing of the seams and the alignment is neat and tidy in the genuine Neverfull MM unlike the fake Neverfull GM, which is untidy.
Look at how poorly the leather wrap around the edge of the Neverfull is closed at the end in the photo below compared to the photo above.
More photos show the significant differences in the craftmanship of a fake Neverfull compared to a real one.
Look at the letter of the heat stamp and pay close attention to the words printed on the leather, such as “Made in Spain” or “Made in France.” Even the letter “M” of the word “Made” on the fake Neverfull is incomplete.
Fake vs. real is clearly different when comparing how it looks when it comes to hot stamping, stitching and hot stamping, just look at the photo below and above and spot how many differences you can find.
The poor craftmanship is also clearly visible in the photo below.
Now let’s turn to the hardware, like the D-ring and the rivet. A fake rivet is flat like the photo below compare to a nice round and high quality rivet fitted into a genuine Neverfull. Also pay attention to the engraving on the rivet, you will notice a clear difference between them.
RIVETS
A side by side comparison between real and fake rivet found inside the Neverfull.

ZIPPER
The zipper is also a give-away when it you compare “LV” inscription on the hardware of the real vs the fake Neverfull. You will find the “LV” inscription is clear and well-defined on the real Neverfull.
LOCKS
Check out the engraving the word of the LV in the lock below.

Another difference is how they close the seams on the sidewall.
