Why you should NOT use a Black Purse Organizer Insert

If you are planning to buy a purse organizer insert in black, take a pause and read this article before making that decision. There is a reason why I would prefer using a tan purse organizer insert instead of a black. The reason is black tend to color transfer easily. The scientific term for this is colorfastness, a color which does not transfer easily has great colorfastness.

Take for example, we all know that dark blue denim jean has a tendency of color transferring onto your purse from constant rubbing. Have you heard of that happening when you wear khaki or white pants?

Why does black has such poor colorfastness?
Sulfur dyes are the most commonly used dyes used on darker shade such as black, brown, and dark blue. They are cheap, generally have good wash-fastness however it perform badly when comes to rubbing. This is mainly due to its chemical property as sulfur black dye exists as a large polymer.

However I am not saying that all black or dark shades will color transfer, I merely advise that if you have a choice choose a lighter or darker shade, choose the light color as much as possible.

If you must own a black purse organizer insert, try rubbing the black external surface of the purse organizer insert with a white clothing to see if the color get transfer onto it.
