Chanel Prices in 2015

Chanel has announced plans to harmonise its global Chanel pricing starting 8th April 2015. With this price harmonising plan, the prices of Chanel in Europe or China and the rest of the world will most or less be the same. Unfortunately, this move is not necessary good for everyone because to create a balanced price list, we shall see a prices hike for Chanel for the European buyers but a reduction for prices for the China buyers. For example:
Chanel’s 11.12 handbag style
Price in Europe, 3,550 euros, after price adjustment, it will hike to 4,260 euros
Price in China 38,200 yuan, after price adjustment, it will drop to 30,000 yuan (estimated 4,531 euros)
Chanel Boy bag
Price in Europe, 3,100 euros, after price adjustment, it will hike to 3,720 euros
Price in China 32,700 yuan, after price adjustment, it will drop to 26,000 yuan ( estimated 3,926 euros)
The other bag that is set to adjusted is Chanel’s 2.55 style bag on 8th April 2015. Moving forward price harmonising will continue across all product categories and is expected to be complete by the end of 2015.
Where to buy the cheapest Chanel after this price hike and reduction?
The answer to that is firstly, buy in places where they offer the biggest VAT refund, you will still be able to shed that 5% to 10% off. Secondly, buy in places where your currency is stronger, if you local currency is stronger in exchange to RMB versus Euro, then it only make sense to buy it in China.
Will you be affected?
The prices for Chanel in Japan, the United States, Britain and Canada will remain the same. Prices in Hong Kong, China, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Dubai and Russia shall decline. Singapore and Malaysia is still unknown at this moment.
Why is Chanel doing that?
According to Chanel, this price adjustment will help to prepare themselves as they move towards an ecommerce platform in the near future. In addition to that it shall help to curb the sales of fakes globally.
