Is there going to be a price increase for Louis Vuitton in 2016. When it is going to happen and by how much?

Before we answer the questions above. First, let us look at the trend for price increment for Louis Vuitton for the past 5 years.

  • 2015 Feb/March. Increase by about 5%
  • 2014 Feb/March. Increase by 5 to 7%
  • 2013 Oct. Increase by 4 to 5% (In 2013, we see two price adjustment from LV)
  • 2013 March. Increase by 10 to 12%
  • 2012 Oct. Increase by 8% in Europe
  • 2012 April. Increase 3 to 5%
  • 2011 June. Increase by 6%
  • 2011 Feb. Increase by 15%

In June 2011, a Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM would have cost you only USD$775 in a Louis Vuitton retail store in the US. However if you are going to buy today, it would have costed you USD$1260. That is a wholly 40% increase in less than 5 years. Just imagine, you bought it brand new 5 years and decide to keep it and sell it today at 15% less, you would still have make a profit of 25%.

Bear in mind, price increment is not the same globally. Above reference is based on increase in Europe and may not necessary apply to other countries. For example in 2013, there is an increase of 10 percent on most non-leather bags such as the Speedy and the NeverFull in Europe, UK and in the United States.
