Why I stop using dust cover bags for my purses

You will think twice next time when someone tell you to store your handbag in a dust cover bag after reading what I have to say about usage of dust cover bags below.

Leather need to breathe

Yes leather like our skin need to breathe, if the leather cannot breathe it will eventually dry and crack. Storing in a dust cover bag for a prolong period of time will limit your leather’s ability to breathe.

Is your surrounding weather humid?

Leather can mildew if the surrounding conditions are too hot and humid. Storing in dust cover bag increase the storage temperature hence promoting the growth of mould especially if the surrounding is wet and humid. Look at the above picture where the dust cover bag itself has turned moldy due to humidity. Just image if your dust cover bag turn moldy, how about the bag you store inside this dust cover bag?

What is the material of your dust cover bag?

Remember to use only cotton-made dust cover bag and avoid any dust cover bag that is make of plastic or any nonporous material as such material is not breathable hence limiting your leather’s ability to breathe as well.

Also avoid dark color dust cover bag to avoid color transfer.

I am not asking you to throw your dust cover bag, it is ok to store your purse inside a dust cover bag but always remember to take it out to air it regularly.
